Senior Automation Test Engineer

Equiniti is hiring for Senior Automation Test Engineer based in Chennai, this is due to Digital transformation happening globally with in EQ. In the role of an Automation Test Professional you would support the Test Analysts (automation and non-automation), Test Lead(s) and Manager(s) with the QA delivery for major software releases (core or configured) by executing pre-defined detailed test conditions and test scripts, with appropriate test data creation, for core functional system enhancements or bespoke client configuration changes made to our internally developed pension and payroll administration platform.

As the Senior Automation Test Engineer you would be responsible for:

  • Drive the use of test automation as part of Agile development teams; be the automation evangelist
  • Write clean, maintainable & efficient automation scripts, from scratch, based upon requirements specifications/user stories
  • Integrate their automation tests into the Continuous Integration process driving process efficiency improvements
  • Perform automation test execution, while accurately recording, evaluating and storing test results documenting any deviations from expected results
  • Set up the test environment(s) in co-ordination with other IT teams; on premise and Azure 
  • Perform peer reviews of the test cases prepared by other team members
  • Participate in test review meetings within the team
  • Defect retesting, fault reviews and defect analysis of any issues raised
  • Identify new automation opportunities and drive their implementation
  • Create automated test suites using previously created manual test suites as the basis for automated scripts
  • Raise queries and collaborate to resolve queries with Development Team/Subject Matter Experts

What we are looking at you:

  • Extensive System testing experience in conjunction with coding skills; preferably, but Java considered
  • Good communication skills a must
  • Experience of creating test harnesses for APIs
  • Experience of creating and manipulating SQL/XML/JSON


  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and Azure
  • Experience of Continuous Integration and associated tools, e.g. Team City
  • Experience with Source Control Tools, e.g. GitHub, Microsoft TFS
  • Experience creating Selenium frameworks
  • Experience of Agile development lifecycles, e.g. Scrum or DSDM, an advantage
  • Experienced with taking a lead role for Non-Functional testing requirements an advantage
  • ISEB/ISTQB qualified
